Welcome to American Civics!  The purpose of this course is to build upon your knowledge of American history from grades 6-7 to gain an understanding of what it means to be an American Citizen.  We will start the year by exploring how one becomes a citizen and the duties, responsibilities, and rights we all have as citizens.  Next, we will look at how our current government structure was established.  From  there, we will explore the process in which candidates run for leadership positions in government and analyze the functions of the three branches of government.  Finally, we will look at the economy of the U.S. and how what we buy determines the success or failure of business.
